A NOTE FROM OUR FOUNDER
I founded MUDITĀ Skin Health in 2022 with my sister-in-law, Dr. Matti Jansen, as our collaborating physician.
MUDITĀ is my middle name. MUDITĀ is Sanskrit मुदिता for selfless joy for others’ wellbeing. It is one of the four sublime states of mind in Buddism.
I love what I do and believe that aesthetic-care is a form of self-care. It is my joy, Muditā, to help my patients look and feel as their best self.
I wanted to create a place that reflected my aesthetic values: holistic, balanced, and personalized. From the serene natural environment around the office to our beautiful treatment rooms and our patient results and long-term skin health, these values are always a promise to every one of our patients at MUDITĀ.
I feel very grateful to have found my passion, to have had the opportunity to follow my dreams, and finally to create something that I truly love and can now share with everyone.

MEET Polly Dursum, FNP-C
NURSE PRACTITIONER AND FOUNDER
Polly completed her undergraduate degree at the University of California, Santa Barbara in environmental studies and music (piano performance). After graduating, she decided to go back to school for nursing and completed her second bachelor’s degree in nursing at California State University, Northridge in 2010. Polly has over 15 years of experience as a nurse starting in critical care and ICU and moving full-time to aesthetics in 2014.
In 2018, Polly earned her certification as an Aesthetic Nurse Specialist through the Plastic Surgical Nursing Certification Board. Polly has trained numerous aesthetic providers in injectables and laser/light-based devices.
In 2021, Polly earned her Master of Science degree in Nursing from University of Cincinnati in family practice and her board-certification as a nurse practitioner. She believes that wellness and aesthetics are interwoven and uses a holistic approach to skin health and beauty.
Polly wanted to create a place that reflected her aesthetic values: highly personalized aesthetic care that emphasizes natural-looking beauty and skin vitality. So in 2022, Polly founded MUDITĀ Skin Health, a boutique aesthetics practice focusing on a holistic approach to beauty, in Santa Barbara, California.
Polly lives in Santa Barbara with her wife, Nancy, and their daughter and labradoodle. Polly has a passion for the fine arts and is a classically trained pianist and flutist. She also enjoys painting, reading, yoga, and hiking.
Meet the Team
Nancy MoharraM, PA-C
PHYSICIAN ASSOCIATE AND DIRECTOR
Nancy is a graduate of the University of Southern California's Physician Associate program. Following her graduation, she embarked on her aesthetic training, specializing in injectables and lasers at a dermatology practice in Los Angeles. As a Physician Associate (PA) in Dermatology, Nancy has developed a deep understanding of various skin conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin infections, and skin cancer. She also conducted surgical excisions of cancerous and benign lesions.
With over twelve years of experience working in reputable dermatology practices in both Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, Nancy has honed her skills and amassed a wealth of expertise in the field of dermatology, which she now applies to her work in aesthetics.
Since 2019, Nancy has been fully dedicated to working in aesthetics. She thoroughly enjoys performing aesthetic procedures, as she believes they combine the elements of art and science. What she finds most rewarding in her aesthetic work is the ability to provide patients with increased confidence and happiness by helping them look and feel like the best versions of themselves.
Nancy resides in Santa Barbara with her wife, Polly, their daughter, and labradoodle. During her free time, she enjoys reading, watching sports, cooking, and traveling.
Dr. MATTI Jansen, MD
COLLABORATING PHYSICIAN
Dr. Jansen is Board-Certified in Internal Medicine currently practicing in concierge medicine with Premium Care Internal Medicine in Santa Barbara, California. Dr. Jansen has over a decade of experience in internal medicine and wellness and now brings her skills to MUDITĀ Skin Health.
After graduating from medical school at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev in Israel, Dr. Jansen returned to her hometown where she completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and served as Chief Medical Resident during her third year. Following her residency, Dr. Jansen worked for ten years both in primary care at Sansum Clinic and in acute care as a rotating hospitalist at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
Dr. Jansen is honored to care for the Santa Barbara community she grew up in and loves so much. She aspires to provide continued compassionate patient-centered care in her practice. Her professional interests include preventative medicine, women’s health, skin health, nutrition, and managing chronic disease for longevity and quality of life. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two children in the beautiful outdoors of Santa Barbara.
Dr. Jansen was certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2012. She is an active member of the Medical Staff of Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital, Department of Internal Medicine.
Gabriella Apollonio, PA-C
PHYSICIAN ASSOCIATE
Gabriella Apollonio (Gabi) completed her Physician Associate program at Western University of Health Sciences in 2018 where she developed a strong foundation in dermatology through multiple specialized clinical rotations.
Gabi began her career in urgent care before transitioning into dermatology in 2019, gaining comprehensive experience in medical, surgical, and aesthetic dermatology. She earned a fellowship and diplomate status with the Society of Dermatology Physician Associates, reflecting her commitment to clinical excellence.
Since 2021, Gabi has focused her practice on aesthetic medicine, specializing in neuromodulators, dermal fillers, and laser and light-based treatments. She is known for creating highly individualized treatment plans that prioritize skin health and natural-looking results. Her expertise also includes acne management, medical-grade skincare, and skin cancer prevention.
Gabi remains dedicated to continuing education through ongoing conferences and advanced trainings to ensure the highest standard of care for her patients.
Outside of practice, she enjoys an active lifestyle including traveling, hiking, pilates, and soaking up the Santa Barbara lifestyle with her dog and cat.
